Behind ‘Patterns’.

Hi everyone, I recently released an album of dawless live sessions. This new sonic journey is the result of the knowledge that I collected from what the community is generously offering out here on the internet.

I felt like sharing a bit of my creative process with you over here today. I hope it can eventually inspire others in their creative process but I'm as well hoping to get some feedback on how to improve my approach for my next musical explorations.

To write and perform the tracks, I sticked to a certain setup and workflow. For this effort I wanted to push boundaries by imposing myself restrictions. The power of limitations is really something I try to embrace while creating. Instead of thinking outside the box constantly and getting lost in all my plugins, I try to stick to my setup and nothing else.

Here's some insights of my setup and on how I decided to use each engines.

I feed the audio from one synth/box back into another. Here's how my current routing is working:

Digitakt MIDI Out to Circuit Tracks MIDI IN.
Circuit Tracks MIDI Tru to Typhon MIDI In.
Typhon MIDI Out to Waldorf MIDI In.
Digitakt Main Out into my Mixer.
Circuit Tracks Main Out into my mixer.
Typhon Main Out to CT Main In.
Waldorf Main Out to Digitakt Main In.

DIGITAKT = Main-brain of this setup / Control Kick, Snare, Hi-Hat, Percs / MIDI sequence the Waldorf Blofeld, Circuit Tracks and Dreadbox Typhon.
DREADBOX TYPHON = Bass. CIRCUIT TRACKS = Pads.
WALDORF BLOFELD = Pads or Leads.

This new album 'Patterns' marks the second chapter of my musical journey through what the DAWless world has to offer. Here’s a collection of eight live sessions, carefully compiled into one release. To make this album happen and keep the momentum coming I decided to write a new jam every Sunday on my Youtube Channel. I've never been so close to the 100 Sunday Jam Sessions! A couple of Sundays left and this little exercice of mine is over. I've learned a lot through this exercice already. Being consistent was definitely one of the biggest challenge. It really helped myself and my creative inputs on many levels. Accomplishing this goal meant developing a consistent writing habit.

To me, this album became a companion on a late night drive, a laid-back ride to reflect deeply on life. Like a walk down memory lane where you can get in touch with who you used to be and allow this information to help you improve. This album marks a big step in my journey of gathering knowledge, and embracing a sound and direction that I like to call mine.

I hope you'll enjoy the outcomes. Feel always welcome to reach out if you have any questions or feedback.

Always happy to connect and learn from fellow jammers and creators.
